Violets & Verses was born due to my love of antique samplers and a bit of extra time since my retirement from teaching. I love history and feeling a connection to the stitchers who came before me. The name Violets & Verses is in memory of my grandmother, Lela Mae, She loved to make things and never let a scrap of fabric go unused. The violets are a nod to the African Violets she always found a spot for in her kitchen. The verses portion is a reference to the sweet verses found on samplers, that we can still apply to our lives today. My hope in doing these reproductions is to help preserve the work done many years ago that help connect us as stitchers today.
